Hello Friends,
Allow me share one of my many thoughts with you. Please read to the end as you sure, will be glad you did. It’s a short story of a young man that once had great dreams and aspirations as a boy. But then what happens? … Read On!
When Stan was much younger; he used to have great expectations and dream of his desired future like most of us did. He dreamt of becoming almost anything his mind could conceive. From becoming a pilot, a president, a stupendously wealthy philanthropist, a fulfilled husband and father- you just think of it and Stan had dreamt of it.
One thing that Stan was not told then was that, as a child, he has an inborn ability that if not carefully nurtured and exercised may become inactively dormant and negate everything he ever dreamed. As Stan began to advance into the more independent stages of life- experiencing the fun of youthful exuberances, the disappointments of failures and “near success” set-backs, he began to loose his confidence to keep dreaming. Each time he dares to, the Stan without simply tells him, “Wake up and smell the coffee, welcome to the real world!!!”
Over the years that followed, Stan’s outlook on life had totally changed from that of the DREAMER he once use to be, to that of a mediocre, whose dominant thought has become; “What’s the essence of dreaming BIG DREAMS when they never seem to be coming to pass after-all. Why not just live life as it unfolds itself before me? That way at least I won’t be disappointed about unmet expectations, my heart won’t be weary from unfulfilled dreams”.
Little did Stan realize that disappointments, failures, unmet expectations, rejections are all programmed to gradually kill our ability to DREAM and think BIG. Having been faced with these life’s challenges long enough, without the knowledge that the power to create his desired future and live his dream was resident in him. Stan gave up dreaming. Life however did not give-up challenging him with the usual results at every turn.
Today, Stan looks back with a deep realization of the contrasting difference of who he was years back and whom he has become now and all he could ask himself were;
“What has happened to my DREAMS?”
“Do I still possess that God-giving ability to DREAM?”
“Can I DREAM again?”
Perhaps, you can identify with Stan’s position or have been just where he is today. Are you asking the same questions as Stan?
My answer to you is, “YES, YOU CAN DREAM AGAIN”, only if you dare to ignore and not pay attention to the “voices of the market” and see what you call failures as “another way your dream in not fulfilled”.
The difference between who you were 5 years ago and who you are today is a function of 3 things:
1. The books you’ve read (information)
2. The people you’ve met (relationship)
3. The things you do every day (habits)
These three things are crucial to helping us make quality life-changing decisions.
Your present life is the result of the choices you have made in the past and the same will be true of the future; you are the sum total of your choices.
If you can see it in your mind, you are going to hold it in your hand.
DARE TO DREAM AGAIN!!!
…As a man thinketh, so he is… (Prov. 23:7)
-Selah
This is my yuletide gift for you.
Merry Christmas
