Lagos is and will always be the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria.Any entrepreneur in the West African Sub Region that wants to make bumper sales and maximize profit,Lagos is a sure Stop.Lagos is home to many industries, business and educational institutions second to none in the entire country(I stand to be corrected)little wonder people of all works of life reside and do business in Lagos.
Lagos formally became a British Colony in 1861 and was Nigeria`s capital for over four decades until the government of then Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babagida(IBB)moved the Capital to Abuja in 1992. Lagos is arguably the most populous State in Africa(although Census figures show Kano State in Northern Nigeria as the most populous State in Nigeria)Lagos is where i reside, and i,m a proud Lagosian.
However, the state of Federal roads in Lagos(Roads under jurisdiction of the Federal Government)are in a state of near collapse with some becoming Death-traps for commuters who ply this roads. Notable amongst these roads are the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, the Abeokuta Expressway stretching from Agege to Sango Ota in Ogun State etc. These roads and many others are in dire need of renovation if not total reconstruction. The pains commuters go throw on a daily basis on these roads can not be explained. It is so saddening to the heart that successive federal governments failed to maintain these roads. The situation is made worst by the fact that the Government in the State is of the opposition to that in the Centre, therefore every other thing goes on that same line. Remember we have leaders who are not ready to deliver the dividends of democracy,so they hide under the umbrella of party affiliations to the detriment of the masses. It is shameful that Lagos the Once capital of Nigeria can be so abandoned by the Federal government simply because the State government is controlled by a progressive and people oriented party *ACN* I call on the federal government headed by Dr.Goodluck Jonathan to look into the poor state of Federal roads in Lagos, afterall Lagos is a part and parcel of the federation in respective of what ever party that controls the State....We dey wait O
