Bribe-taking by Nigerian Policemen: Should We Legalize It?
I was reading an old newpaper lately and just came about a story tagged "Bread Winner killed by Policeman". The funny and disgusting thing abt the story was that after several interrogation by men of the press, the policeman says it was an accidental discharge. Accidental discharge on the road after the man was said to have allegedly gave him N40 and policeman demanded for N50.
My ppu na so the man with a wife and a child died (just 2yrs in his wedding).
Shouldn't we legalize Bribe taking by Nigerian Policemen? Atleast to stop the so called "ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE"
I used to wonder if it could be possible for us to legalize "rogering" our policemen.
It has become a way of life so what stops us.

i am short of words.our country is already spoilt by bribbery and corruption.my answer is yes it should be stopped,if i were to be the next governor of lagos state or the president of nigeria ,it will be stated in my own new constitution that any officer,i.e police,army e.t.c.should be penalised or dealt with.with this we tend to reduce the rate of crimes in our country.i plead to the government that they should please look into this for the betterment of our country.

Very nice comments. Thank you indeed. Why should they legalize bribery and corruption? Indeed,our country has the infamous adoration as one of the most corrupt in the international Comity of Nations. Even, there appears to be the general consensus that our evolving culture and gorvernance are best characterized by those unflattering siblings of whatever is bad and undesirable like stealing, bribery and corruption. It is very sad.

I am very impressed with this discussion, It has become an habbit to the Policemen, and how do we stop them from taking bride when the leader lives on bride and corruption! I believe those leader have their own share from the money they take from the commercialist. I could rem. a guy killed two policemen with his car! and they would never stay along that way!. Very bad habbit with Nigerian policemen.

The truth behind this is that most of the policemen who are on the road taking rogger are the uneducated among the police force.So,the federal government need to change the criteria for employment into the police force.But they do not need to send away the old ones rather they should relocate them to the farm.

ACTUALLY THIS IS A NEW WAY OF THINKING.ITSOUNDS CRAZY...BUT WHY DO WE DENY WHAT EXISTS IN OUR SOCIETY.PERHAPS WE SHOULD ALSO OFFER DEGREE COURSES IN CORRUPTION;RIGGING;RIOTING ETC TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS WELL AND THEN THINK OF A SOLUTION.

its bettere we legalized it, because there is no way we can stop corruption in this country when those who are to stop it are the number one who are taking and participating in the crime, so its better we do so that every one can go into it and we no is crime free.
